C3P Software Released Cast-Designer V7.4

More than 50 new functions have been introduced in the Cast-Designer V7.4 version. C3P software has enlarged the Cast-Designer application field from the casting manufacturing process to the design field and performance field. The major enhancements and new developments include:
Multiscale and multiphysics modeling and simulation
Multiscale and multiphysics modeling and simulation methods are nowadays essential tools for analyzing complex systems. For example, engineers often need to simulate large scale structures where the micro-mechanical properties of constituent materials greatly affect the overall behavior of the system.
Cast-Designer Cell Automation (CDCA): Solidification is a phase transformation process which involves crystallization and volume changes for metals and alloys. During solidification, the liquid phase may transform into one or more solid phases, and a gas phase may also form at the S/L interface. With the CDCA module, the grain growth and more detail microstructure simulation could be carried out by Cast-Designer, the scale could be reduced to 5 um to 1mm.
Cast-Designer performance analysis (CDPE): CDPE is a software module for the solution of large-scale, 3-D solid models subjected to static and dynamic loads. The software includes specific features oriented toward the investigation of fatigue and ductile fracture in metals. More ever, the defects of the casting process such as the shrinkage porosity, gas porosity as well as the residual stress could be mapped to the final part performance directly.
Post-Solver and gas bubble tracking
A new analysis technology called Post-Solver has been introduced to Cast-Designer to analysis the final gas bubbles, gas lead time and mold erosion.
With the innovation technology, now the gas bubble could be tracked well even if it is smaller than one element size and will disappear finally in the simulation, the final location and mass could be detected. This technology is unique in the market.
AI-Cast & PSO optimization
Now, the Cast-Designer Automatic Optimization module has been renamed to ‘AI-CAST’, to highlight the automatic capability. A new optimization method called PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) has been enhancing Cast-Designer also. This method usually brings a better result than EGA in casting application (at least the same level as EGA). The control parameter of PSO is very similar than EGA.
Global-Local model for complex problem
In order to properly reflect reality, we continuously increase the modeling complexity when we simulate, validate, or optimize our applications. A simple technique to improve a model is to increase the number of elements that in turn create more evaluation points.
Even at today’s state of computation and processing power, for some very complex casting model, detailed CAE model to compute thermal, flow and stress is extremely difficult, if not practically impossible.
A new simulation technology called Global-Local model was introduced to Cast-Designer. The user runs a global model (coarse model) at first, and then the system picks the boundary condition of the global model to the local model (fine model). In this case, the CPU time could be shorted in tens of times.
HPDC gating system design
The design guide of HPDC has been improved with more detail information. Also, the system supports casting machine comparison and smart selection.
The gating system free design is also enhanced. Now the design of 3D runner becomes simpler than before. The system also supports the user-defined wire/edge.
ParaCAD in Cast-Designer
A new fully parametric CAD module of C3P Software called ParaCAD has been integrated to Cast-Designer for CAD modeling. The ParaCAD is also fully integrated into AI-Cast for automatic optimization to make any geometry modification and optimization.
Powerful chill design function
The chill design function has been enhancing in Cast-Designer V7.4 and guides by the smart chill design wizard. It is very useful for the big part of casting design. The conformal chill generation is also supported and it could be hundreds of times faster than the traditional method
